Maha CM to receive Supreme Honorary degree by Japanese varsity

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis will be awarded a Supreme Honorary Degree by Japan-based Osaka City University (OCU) for starting the process of reforms for bringing socio-economic development in the state.

He will be the first Indian to receive such an honour, a statement from the Chief Minister's office said.

OCU is a 120-year-old varsity and has granted this degree of 'Honorary Doctorate' to 10 distinguished persons across the globe till now, it said.

OCU is honouring Fadnavis for starting the process of reforms for bringing socio-economic development in the state of Maharashtra, the statement added.

It has also invited Fadnavis for a special address at the varsity, interaction with students and with people of Osaka.
 

The Chief Minister during his recent visit to Japan had unveiled a statue of Dr B R Ambedkar - architect of Indian Constitution - at the Osaka varsity.
