Maharashtra Finance Minister Sudhir Mungantiwar today said the government has given a special package of Rs 22,122 crore for drought-hit Vidarbha, Marathwada and north Maharashtra regions and asked officials to implement schemes under it in a time-bound manner.

He asked officials to conduct meetings, including with people's representatives, in these three regions and review the implementation of the package every 20 days.

"There will be no shortage of funds for implementing schemes in the special package that will be made available during the winter session," he said.

The minister added that initial funding, if needed, will be provided from the contingency fund.

"For the implementation of the schemes announced in this package, the departments should give a time-bound programme by August 15," Mungantiwar said.

He asked officials to fix the date of inauguration of the schemes in the advance and then work towards achieving it.

"For successful implementation of the schemes, micro planning should be done with complete study and information related to the latest technology in the field should be taken," he said.

He called for early submission of proposals, to be implemented as part of the scheme, to the state cabinet.
