Rural development Minister Pankaja Munde today said her department has modeled 'smart village' concept to make gram panchayats self sufficient with focus on renewable energy and information technology.
"SMART stands for sanitation, management, accountability, renewable energy, transparency and technology. With renewable energy and IT, the gram panchayats will be strong and self sufficient. Every village will have a development plan," she said.
"The proposal of the smart village will be submitted to the Cabinet soon," the minister said.
She also said steps would be taken to strengthen self help groups and make markets available for them.
