A youth was allegedly murdered by his 41-year-old father over money to buy liquor, in Bodwad tehsil in the district, police said today.
Vaibhav Patil, 21, was attacked with a spade by his father Sanjay Patil, when he was asleep in the wee hours of yesterday, Bodwad Assistant Police Inspector (API) D P Pawar said.
On the previous night, the accused had asked his son for money to buy liquor, and threatened to kill him if he did not comply, he said, adding he was an alcoholic and often harassed the victim with similar demand.
A case has been registered under sections 302 (Punishment for murder), 323 (Punishment for voluntarily causing hurt) of the IPC and the accused arrested, he said.
Further investigation is on, he added.
