A part of ceiling of an auditorium collapsed here following which the Thane Municipal Corporation closed it, officials said today.
No one was injured in the incident which occurred at the Kashinath Ghanekar auditorium near Hiranandani Meadows complex last night. Repair works have been started and an inquiry has been ordered in this regard, a senior civic official said.
A programme was organised by Shiv Sena MLA Pratap Sarnaik, which ended at 11.30 PM. After the spectators left the hall within 10 to 15 minutes, a portion of the ceiling crashed, he added.
Thane Mayor Sanjay More and Civic Commissioner Sanjeev Jaiswal rushed to the spot and took stock of the situation.
