Maharashtra Legislative Council bypoll on Sept 2

Bypoll to a State Legislative Council seat in Maharashtra will be held on September 2, the Election Commission today announced.

The bypoll is being held to fill up the vacancy in the Council following the resignation of sitting member Dhananjay Panditrao Munde.

Munde resigned on July 2 though his tenure was up to July 7, 2016.

The notification for the poll will be issued on August 16 and the last date of nominations is August 23.

After scrutiny the next day, the last date for withdrawal of candidature is August 26 and polling will be held from 9 AM to 4 PM on September 2. Counting will take place on the same day at 5 PM.
