: Puducherry Pradesh Congress Committee has sacked P P Vinodhan of Mahe region from the post of general secretary of block level committee there for alleged anti party activities in the may 16 assembly polls.
Local Administration Minister and PCC president A Namassivayam said in a release today that Vinodhan has been dismissed with immediate effect for 'anti party activities' in Mahe (an enclave of PUducherry in Kerala) in the polls.
Congress was defeated in the poll in Mahe region, where senior Congress leader and former Health Minister E Valsaraj sought to retain the seat for the sixth successive time.

He had lost to an independent N Ramachandran who contested with the support of People's Welfare Alliance.
Valsaraj was among key Congress candidates defeated, though the party emerged with a strength of 15 members by contesting the poll in alliance with DMK, which was returned from two segments to the 30 member House.
A six member Congress ministry was formed here on June 6 under the stewardship of senior Congress leader and former Union Minister V Narayanasamy, who is however a non member of the House.
