"This is a crime and we met the chief minister to demand stern action against the channel and Bhuyan for filming the incident which has brought shame to Assamese society," All-India Mahila Congress secretary and state in-charge Punam Rani Wangkhem told reporters here.
The leader criticised the tweets posted by the channel's editor-in-chief which stated that "prostitutes go to pubs and bars".
"This is highly objectionable and a derogatory remark on women as a whole," Wangkhem said, adding "We will not tolerate this and the chief minister has assured that immediate action will be taken".
Meanwhile, the chief minister today announced that Gaurav Jyoti Neog who shot the episode and subsequently resigned following charges that he was involved in the episode will be interrogated by the police.
The victim was molested in front of a bar on the Guwahati- Shillong Road on July 10, which led to a public outcry after a video of the shocking incident was uploaded on Youtube.
