Haryana Police today arrested Rajesh, the prime accused of the bank robbery committed by digging a 84-feet long tunnel at Punjab National Bank branch at Gohana in Sonipat district.
A police spokesman said here today that Rajesh, a resident of Katwal village in Sonipat district, was arrested by a police team near Bawana Phatak located at Narela while he was waiting for someone.
The accused had been arrested earlier on two occasions, once by Himachal Pradesh Police under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act in 2009, and in another incident by Haryana Police in a fraud case in 2011.

The accused would be produced in the court tomorrow, the spokesman said.
He said that police team had already arrested eight persons involved in this robbery and had recovered 49.885 kilogram jewelry, cash worth over Rs 3.73 lakh, a country made pistol and two live cartridges.
Robbers had broke into Punjab National bank's strong room by digging a long underground tunnel and looted cash and gold jewelery from several lockers.
