Maize, barley strengthen on pick-up in demand

Prices of maize and barley strengthened up to Rs 15 per quintal at the wholesale market today due to pick-up in demand from stockists and consuming industries.

Traders said rising demand from stockists and consuming industries against restricted arrivals from producing belts mainly supported the upside in maize and barley prices.

In the national capital, Maize and barley advanced by Rs 15 and Rs 5 to Rs 1,340-1,345 and Rs 1,550-1,560 per quintal, respectively.

Following are today's quotations (in Rs per quintal):

Wheat MP (deshi) 2,245-2,445, Wheat dara (for mills) 1,630-1,635, Chakki atta (delivery) 1,635-1,640, Atta Rajdhani (10 kg) 220, Shakti bhog (10 kg) 220, Roller flour mill Rs 860-880 (50 kg), Maida 920-925 (50 kg) and Sooji 1,050-1,060 (50 kg).
 

Basmati rice (Lal Quila) 10,400, Shri Lal Mahal 10,000, Super Basmati Rice 9,500, Basmati common new 7,000-7,600, Rice Pusa (1121) 5,600-6,200, Permal raw 2,100-2,150, Permal wand 2,250-2,300, Sela 2,650-2,700 and Rice IR-8 1,925-1,975,Bajra 1,100-1,105, Jowar yellow 1300-1,375, white 2,300-2,450, Maize 1,340-1,345, Barley 1,550-1,560.
