Five Taliban militants, including a key commander, were killed today during clashes with the security forces that also left a Major and a soldier dead in Pakistan's restive northwestern tribal region.
Theclashes took place in Utmankhel area of Lower Orakzai Agency during an intelligence-based operation by security forces, the army said in a statement.
Five Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan terrorists, including commander Shah Dauran, were killed by thesecurity forces.

During clashes, Major Mudassir and Sepoy Matiullah were killed.
The security forces arrested several terrorists fromthe area when a search operation was conduction after cordon-off.
Heavy arms and ammunition were recovered from the possession of terrorists.
Orakzai is one of Pakistan's seven semi-autonomous tribal regions in the northwest, where the Pakistani Taliban and Al Qaeda-linked militants are said to have carved out strongholds.
Pakistan last month launched Operation Radd-ul-Fasaad to clean the country of remnants of militants after dismantling their hideouts in remote tribal region.
