The health check up camps in villages should not be just a one-day affair, but should be a regular follow-up for the people, a senior official has said.

Inaugurating a one-day All Womens' health check up camp at Alimghar village in Bhiwandi taluka of the district today, Deputy Director of Health Services Konkan division, Dr Sanjiv Kamble said such camps will help in taking care of the health of women and check their ailments.

He asked the medical team not to keep the camp confined to just one day, but keep a constant follow up of the success of the camp and the status of those found ill.

"We want total success and satisfaction from such camps. This camp being held in Alimghar should be a model one to be followed by other villages in the district," he said.

Hundreds of village women, old and young, visited the camp today for a health check-up.

Village sarpanch Urmilla Patil, who took the initiative for the camp, expressed happiness over the first such camp being organised in her village.

The other villages will take lessons from this camp and follow suit, she said.

Guidance regarding problems for women like menarche, menopause, cancer, anaemia, leucorrhoea etc and general health care advice were being given to the village women by renowned gynaecologists from Thane and surrounding areas, Alimghar health centre's medical officer Dr Avinash Bhagwat told reporters.
