Senior Congress leader Ashok Gehlot today demanded that the Rajasthan government make appropriate provisions for oil refinery, Jaipur Metro Phase-2 and other projects in the state budget.

He also claimed the Vasundhara Raje government had to bow before public sentiments and roll back the hike in power tariff for farmers after five months.

"The Congress held statewide demonstration against power tariff hike and now, as the party was planning for a mass movement in Sikar and Jhunjhunu, the government in a hurry announced the rollback," the former Chief Minister claimed.

Accusing the state government of not doing any development works in the last three years, Gehlot said it should make appropriate provisions for projects like oil refinery, Jaipur Metro Phase 2, Dungarpur-Banswara-Ratlam railway line and others in the state budget.

He alleged that the BJP government had stalled the refinery project just because it had thought that the credit for the project would go to the Congress.

"It also weakened the free medicines scheme launched by the previous Congress-led government. The BJP had promised 15 lakh jobs to youths but when it came to power, no such thing happened," he claimed.
