Villagers of Kadu Pasuvanapuram first noticed the carcass of the pachyderm after which an examination by a veterinarian confirmed that it had been electrocuted.
The elephant could have come in contact with high-voltage electric fencing put up by the land owner to prevent animals from entering the field, they said.
