A man, who was allegedly kidnapped by a gang from Rajasthan for a ransom of Rs 10 lakh, was rescued from the city, police said.
Richard Marian Nazrath, who was abducted on July 30 from Bharathpur in Rajasthan after being lured by a low price offer for generators through an internet call, was rescued in a joint operation by the Bharatpur and Mangaluru Police, city Police Commissioner M Chandra told said here today.
Arun D'Souza, a city-based businessman was contacted through an internet calloffering four generators at low rate following which he sent his accomplice Nazrath to purchasethe generators.

But as Nazrath reached Bharathpur on July 30, he was abducted by unknown persons and D'Souza received a call demandinga ransom of Rs 10 lakh.
IGP of Bharathpur Alok Kumar Vasista along with Mangaluru police team launched a joint operation and traced the location of Nazrath before the kidnappers released him at Govardhan and fled the spot.
Nazrath was kept in captivity and was shifted to nearly seven places during this abduction, the IGP said, adding, there were 12 members in the gang.
The police Commissioner also released alist of the most wanted criminals in Dakshina KannadaDistrict. They were involved in various thefts, murder and extortion cases.
