Press Trust of India  |  Noida

A man accused of committing theft dodged the policemen escorting him and escaped from a district hospital where he was taken for medical examination yesterday, following which two constables were suspended, police said.

SSP and PRO Manish Saxena said that on November 11 an alleged thief, Robin, was nabbed by villagers at Chhalera and handed over to the sector 39 police.

The accused was taken to the district hospital for medical examination. Robin told the policemen that he had pain in his stomach and wanted to go to the wash room, Saxena said.

The accused then escaped from the washroom window, he said.

In this regard, constable Jaikendra lodged an FIR at sector 20 police station.

The SSP said that a departmental inquiry was ordered into the incident and two constables suspended.
