Man arrested for causing burn injuries on his daughter

A Sri Lankan national at the Mandapam refugee camp near here was arrested for allegedly causing burn injuries in the thigh of his 12-year-old daughter using red-hot iron rod in an inebriated condition.

Police said Robin, who had married two women, burnt the thigh of his daughter Keerthi yesterday.

As the girl screamed in pain, people in the area and members of the self help groups gathered and demanded his arrest.

He was remanded to judicial custody.
