Man arrested for harassing Dalit woman in UP

A man has been arrested for allegedly harassing a 22-year-old Dalit woman at Kamheda village here, police said today.

The victim along with her friend yesterday went to a field to relieve herself when the accused Shahnazer, wearing women's clothes, started harassing her in Purkazi police station area, SHO Charan Singh said.

The accused fled the spot as the woman cried for help, he said.

An FIR has been lodged against Shahnazer on the basis of a complaint filed by the victim's family, said the officer, adding the accused was later arrested.
