A man was arrested today for allegedly killing his six-month-old daughter by throwing her into a canal at Dunia Sandhu village here, police said.
Dharminder Singh has been arrested for allegedly killing his daughter, SSP Batala Inderbir Singh said here today.
The accused allegedly beat up his wife Kanwaljit Kaur over some issue on May 14. After thrashing her, he asked her to go to her parents' house. However, two daughters of the couple remained in the house with Dharminder, police said.
The same day, Dharminder allegedly threw his six-month-old daughter into the village canal, they said.
Acting on the complaint of the accused's wife, police arrested Dharminder and investigation is on to ascertain why he killed his daughter, they said.
The body of the girl has not been recovered from the canal yet, police said.
