Man arrested for killing newborn daughter

A man was arrested today for allegedly killing his newborn girl at Belur in Howrah district.

The police said Subrata Chatterjee was arrested on the basis of his landlord Nemai Bhattacharya's complaint that he had killed his newborn girl and dumped the body on the side of Hoogly river.

The locals also complained to the police after spotting the body of the baby girl on the river bank.
