Haryana Police have arrested a man allegedly involved in looting a truck laden with copper wire worth Rs 65 lakh from Shahjahanpur in Rajasthan.
Aalim, a resident of district Palwal, was nabbed yesterday from Rewari and one country made pistol, two cartridges and a shell were recovered from him, a Haryana police spokesman said today.
Aalim had looted the truck near Shahjahanpur in Rajasthan by stopping his car in front of the heavy vehicle on the intervening night of April 13 and 14, he said, adding, on the information of Rajasthan Police, the Haryana police laid barricades on Sabi Bridge on NH-8 in district Rewari.

"On seeing the police barricade, the accused, hit the barricade with high speed truck and opened fire on the police party in which Assistant Sub Inspector Surat Singh received injuries and had a narrow escape," he said.
"After that, the accused jumped into the river flowing nearby and tried to flee the spot by taking the advantage of darkness," he said.
The police, however, managed to nab the accused, against whom a case had been registered and further investigations were under progress, he said.
