A man was today arrested in Udhampur district for allegedly attempting rape on a woman and beating her when she resisted.
The victim alleged that on April 14, Khair Din sneaked into her room and tried to rape her, police said.
Khair Din beat the victim when she tried to resist, and managed to escape after she raised an alarm, they said.
The police also arrested one Jagdish after a woman, who claimed to be his wife, accused him of harassing her for dowry after remarrying another woman.
Both Khair Din and Jagdish have been remanded to seven-day police custody, they said.
