A man was arrested today for allegedly raping a 16-year-old in Ghatampur area here even as the girl refuted the charges levelled against the accused, saying she was in a relationship with him.
Vinay Sachaan was arrested today for raping a minor on Saturday in an inebriated state in a field, following which a complaint was filed by her father after she returned home on Sunday, SP rural Surendra Tiwari said.
The girl, however, refuted the charges against Sachaan claiming the physical relationship was consensual, the SP said, adding, the girl does not want to return to her father's house and has been sent to a Nari Niketan.
Preliminary investigation suggests it is not a case of rape, Tiwari added.
