Man arrested for sacrilege in Punjab

One person was arrested for allegedly desecrating religious books at a village Gurdwara, police said today.

Pages of religious book were found torn at a Gurdwara in Khalchian village nearly 30 km from here, police said.

Police nabbed the accused Jaswinder Singh on the basis of the footage of CCTV camera in the gurdwara.

Yesterday three persons were nabbed by villagers and handed over to Police for allegedly desecrating religious books at a gurdwara.

Last year, Punjab had witnessed a series of sacrilege incidents, sparking protests in different parts of the state.
