Man arrested under POSCO

A 20-year-old man was arrested here today for allegedly abducting and raping a minor girl last month, police said.

The police identified the accused as Jayadev.

According to police, the accused was charged under sections of Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POSCO) Act.

A first class judicial magistrate court in Neyyattinkara later remanded him to two weeks judicial custody, police said.

A case was also pending against Jayadev, said to be an RSS activist, in connection with the destruction of a flag mast of ruling CPI(M) here last year.
