Man booked for dowry death

A case of dowry death has been registered against a man here after his father-in-law filed a complaint, police said today.

Sumitra Devi (24) committed suicide by jumping into a pond near her paternal house at Sulkha village yesterday.

Her father Jai Singh filed a complaint against his son-in-law Dinesh Kumar alleging that he had been ill-treating his daughter over dowry.

Sumitra returned to her parents' house when situation became unbearable, Singh said in his complaint.

Sumitra got married to Dinesh of Jaisinghpur Kheda village in 2012.
