Man dies after falling off train in Mumbai

A 32-year-old man died after falling off a suburban train here, officials of the Government Railway Police (GRP) said today.

Imran Shaikh, a resident of suburban Saki Naka, fell off a moving train between Ghatkopar and Vikhroli stations on Sunday night, they said.

Prima facie Sheikh was hanging out of the train's compartment, which had very few passengers, and dashed against a pole along the tracks, police said.

According to GRP, he was taken to the Rajawadi hospital in Ghatkopar, where he was declared dead.

Meanwhile, in separate incidents, two youths sustained injuries after being hit by pole from a moving train.
 

18-year-old Amaan Ali Sheikh, tried to kick a person on the platform from a train on Sunday night at the Vikhroli station. When the train started moving, he dashed against a poll and sustained injuries, police said.

Amaan was travelling with his friends in a Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus bound train.

An unidentified youth rammed into a pole near the Kurla station on Sunday late night and was injured, officials at the Kurla Railway Protection Force (RPF) said.

Meanwhile, in another incident, one Salim Shaikh, suffered 50 per cent burns after he was electrocuted yesterday while travelling on a train's rooftop near Kurla, they added.
