Man from Kerala detained under Goondas Act

A man from Kerala, charged with waylaying and robbing a person of Rs 2000 at knifepoint here, has been detained under Goondas Act.

Twenty four-year-old M Ranjith Kumar alias Rahul from Palakkad district in Kerala, was arrested recently on these charges, police said.

Since he was involved in many theft and dacoity cases, police commissioner A K Vishwanathan ordered his detention under the Goondas Act, which was served on him, an official release said here today.

A total of 66 persons were detained under the Act and four under NSA in 2013, the release said.
