A court in Bihar's Muzaffarpur district today sentenced a man to life imprisonment besides slapping a fine of Rs 22,000 after finding him guilty in the murder of his mother two years ago.
Additional District Judge Rakesh Kumar Singh passed the order convicting Vivek Kumar of killing his mother Vibha Devi (45) with a slab used for grinding spices at their home in Maniyari village on October 25, 2014, under Section 302 and other provisions of the IPC.
The court also imposed a penalty of Rs 22,000 on Kumar.
According to prosecution, the convict had fatally attacked Vibha Devi due to certain family disputes.
The victim's neighbour Sanjeev Kumar Mishra had filed an FIR against Kumar charging him with the murder of his mother.
