Man gets seven years jail for raping woman labourer

A local court has sentenced a man to seven years imprisonment for raping a woman in Shamli district.

Additional District Sessions Judge Manoj Kumar also imposed a fine of Rs 9000 on the accused, Wajid Ali, last evening after holding him guilty under Section 376 of the IPC, according to prosecution.

The woman, who worked as a labourer, was raped by Ali when her husband was not present in Nayagaon village under Jhinjhana Police Station in Shamli district in January 2013.
