A man has been arrested for allegedly trying to smuggle into the country gold worth Rs 50 lakh.
The accused was intercepted by customs officials at the international airport after his arrival from Doha on Wednesday.
"The passenger was empty handed and had displayed a copy of driving license. He was impersonating as airport staff. The description and photo of license did not match with the passport details," a release issued today by the customs said.

On suspicion, he was subjected to personal search which resulted in recovery of two pieces of gold bars of one kg each. The passenger was arrested and gold bars weighing two kilograms were seized, it said.
The value of the gold bars is assessed to be about Rs 50 lakh.
