Man held for cheating wife

A 38-year-old man was today

arrested for allegedly cheating his wife by divorcing her using a postal card within eight days of their marriage, police said.

Mohammed Haneef, a private employee, residing at Kukatpally had married a 26-year-old woman on March 9.

Haneef left the house the next day and on March 16, sent her a letter through post stating that he had decided to give her "talaq", said police.

He also telephoned her and informed her about the letter, Bhavaninagar Police Station Inspector K Karunakar Reddy said.

The woman later went to her parent's house and lodged a complaint against Haneef.
 

Following the complaint, Haneef has been charged with cheating and cruelty. He was arrested today, they added.
