Man held for possessing country-made pistol

A 32 year-old man was today arrested here for allegedly possessing an illegal country-made pistol and four bullets.

Mohan Kumar was apprehended during a routine check at R V Nagar near Kodungaiyur following his incoherent replies when police personnel questioned him on suspicion, a city police release here said.

A native of Chittoor in Andhra Pradesh and presently residing here, Kumar was found carrying the pistol and four bullets hidden inside a bag, the release said.

He had bought them from one Jaan Badshah in Mumbai for Rs 30,000 and planned to sell them off here for a higher sum, it said, adding investigations were on about Badshah.
 

An FIR under different sections of The Indian Arms Act, 1959 had been filed against Kumar, the release added.
