A 16-year-old mentally-challenged girl became pregnant after she was allegedly raped by a 26-year-old man in Kothrud area in March, police said today.
Police today arrested one Saharul Abdul Wahid under IPC section 376 (punishment for rape) and relevant sections of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.
As per the information given by the police, the accused used to work in a garage near the teenager's house and had allegedly raped her by luring her of money.
The girl's parents came to know about her pregnancy after she was taken to a doctor on complaint of vomiting, according to police.
The girl's father, who is visually impaired, approached the police station and registered a case against Wahid.
The accused was remanded in the police custody till July 6.
