Man held with contraband

A man was arrested for allegedly carrying contraband worth Rs eight lakh in the international market by Sashastra Seema Bal personnel on the Indo-Nepal border.

Shailesh Upadhyay from Kushinagar district was arrested last night from Marchahwa and four kg charas worth Rs eight lakh was recovered from his possession, SSB commandant K S Bankhithi told reporters.

Another member of the gang managed to escape, he said.
