Man held with narcotics from Malad

The anti narcotics cell (ANC) of Mumbai police arrested a 23-year-old man from Malad in western suburbs and seized 15 kg of hashish (charas) valued at Rs 60 lakh from his possession, police said today.

Ishfaq Ahmed Mohammad Ashraf Rashi, a resident of Srinagar was arrested by the Kandivli unit of ANC last night, an official said today.

Acting on a tip-off that the accused will be coming near a mall in Dindoshi area of Malad, the cops laid a trap and nabbed him, Shivdeep Lande, Deputy Commissioner of Police (ANC) said.

Police have recovered 15 kg of hashish from him which was hidden in a bag, he said.
 

Ishfaq had came to Mumbai to supply the narcotics to his customers, the official added.

Last month ANC had arrested two men from Kashmir identified as Haji Abdul Rahman Ali Shaikh (67) and Irfan Qureshi (42) with 20 kg hashish valued Rs 80 lakh, the official said.
