An unidentified man was crushed to death by a train while he was crossing the tracks with earphones plugged in his ears near east Delhi's Mandawali area here this morning.

The incident took place around 10 in the morning when the man, appearing to be in his thirties, was mowed down by the train. Eyewitnesses told police that they had seen the man walking on the track with earphones on.

"We have not found any earphones or mobile phone at the spot after the incident. A mobile phone could have helped us establish his identity. We also could not find identity cards or other documents from the deceased," said a police officer.

The body has been sent for post-mortem examination to Lal Bahadur Shashtri Hospital. Police are making efforts to identify the accused.
