Man kills wife for opposing extra-marital affair

A 35-year-old woman was allegedly strangulated to death by her husband for objecting to his illicit relationship with another woman, police said today.

According to a complaint lodged by the victim's brother, Ranjit Kaur was killed yesterday in Dashmesh Nagar area, they said.

Initial investigations revealed that the deceased was opposed to the extra-marital affair of her husband, Charanjit Singh, with another woman, because of which he would harass her, police said.

The couple was working at a boutique here, they said, adding, the accused is still absconding.
