Man, paramour sentenced to death for killing wife

The sentence was awarded by the District and Sessions Judge Anand Mohan Khare to the duo yesterday under section 302 of the IPC.

The sentence will be applicable only after its ratification by the High Court, the court said in its judgement.

According to prosecution, Jitendra (26) and his paramour Arti (22) set afire Jitendra's wife Reena on October 11, 2011.

Reena died in the hospital and in her dying declaration she had blamed her husband and Arti for murdering her, following which they were arrested.
