A 28-year-old man was allegedly killed by his paramour's brother in Basadi village of Baran district in Rajasthan, a police official said today. The main accused in the case has been arrested.
The deceased was identified as Anand Meena alias Dholiya, a resident of Basadi village. He was allegedly in an illicit relationship with the main accused's sister (35), who is a married woman.
On Sunday, Meena went to a drinking party at his paramour's house, which was attended by the woman's husband Nandkishore (50), brother Budhiprakesh (26), and son Kishanmurari.
After a few drinks, an inebriated Meena started abusing the three men and later collapsed in one of the beds, said the SHO of Sadar police station Ashish Bhargav.
In a fit of rage, Budhiprakesh took out a heavy wooden stick with an attached shovel and repeatedly smashed Meena's head, killing him on the spot, the SHO said.
Then Budhiprakesh told the other two men about the killing and the three threw the body on the road in the village, the official said. Later, they called the police control room and claimed that a man was killed by unidentified persons on the road.
The police immediately rushed to the spot and after preliminary investigation Budhiprakesh surfaced as the main accused.
Police booked Budhiprakesh, resident of nearby Haripura village, under sections 302, 201, 120 (B) of IPC. Budhiprakesh was arrested, the SHO said.
Nandkishore and Krishanmurari would be prosecuted under sections 201 of IPC for allegedly assisting the key accused in destroying evidence, the SHO added.
Today morning, police handed over the deceased's body to the family members after post-mortem. Further investigation is underway, the official said.
The deceased was a bachelor and used to drive an auto rickshaw in the city for a living, he added.
Reportedly, he was in an illicit relationship with the woman for last ten to twelve years. The deceased youth and the woman were from the same community and he used to frequent her house very often. The woman's brother and son were aware of the illicit relationship, the SHO said.
