Man sentenced to life for raping minor daughter

A fish and scrap merchant was today sentenced to life imprisonment by a mahila court here on charges of sexually assaulting his minor daughter in 2013 in the city.

The prosecution case was that Hakeem (34) raped his 12-year-old daughter when she was alone in the house in Kurichi in November that year.

Her mother, a casual labourer, was away at work.

Hakeem had threatened her not to reveal it to her mother.

However, the mother came to know of it and immediately lodged a complaint with All Women police station which registered a case.

Judge G Raja sentenced Hakeem to undergo life imprisonment and also imposed a fine of Rs 5,000 on him.
