Man sets himself ablaze, partner suffers burn injuries

Depressed over strained relationship between their families, a man set himself afire and embraced his 38-year-old partner, leaving her seriously injured in the incident in Alavpur village here, police said.

26-year-old Monu Maurya was having an affair with his neighbour, identified as Lakhpatti Devi, police said today.

Depressed over a dispute between their families, Maurya sprinkled kerosene on himself yesterday and rushed to Lakhpatti's house and embraced her, they said.

Both were rushed to a hospital, police said, adding, while the man died this morning, the woman has been referred to an Allahabad hospital.
