Man shot dead by assailants

A 35-year-old man was today allegedly shot dead by four motorbike-borne assailants in Ranibagh area in the district, police said.

The incident took place when the miscreants opened firing at Jamil alias Baura, leading to his death on the spot, they said.

Police claimed that rivalry over 'rangdari' (extortion) could be the reason behind the incident, police said, adding that further probes are on.
