Man shot dead for resisting chain snatching attempt

A 50-year-old man was shot dead allegedly by unidentified persons when he resisted a chain snatching attempt by them in Kankarkheda area, police said today.

Another man who was also fired upon by the robbers, is in a critical condition.

The incident took place last night when the deceased Virendra Singhal was returning from a wedding along his relative Ashwani Gupta (30) and other family members, police spokesperson said.

The duo were immediately rushed to hospital, where Virendra succumbed to his injuries, he added.
