A man was shot dead by unidentified persons at Sagolband Tera Pukhrambam Leirak in Imphal West district, police said today.
The man was identified as Irom Bobo (42) of Tharoijam Maning Leilai area of Imphal West district. He was rushed to Regional Institute of Medical Science (RIMS) Hospital, after he was shot last night but succumbed to his injury, hospital sources said.
The police said Bobo was allegedly involved in a rape case of a 11-year-old girl in 2013.
Prescribed militant outfit United National Liberation Front (UNLF) has claimed the responsibility for killing the alleged rapist in social media today.
