A 65-year-old man was today trampled to death by an elephant near here.
Forest officials said the incident occurred when Veeran of Bangalathotti forest settlement area under Sathyamangalam Tiger Reserve had entered the forest to tend his cattle early today.
All of a sudden, a jumbo standing behind a tree attacked and trampled him to death on the spot.
On hearing his screams, people in the vicinity rushed to the spot and found Veeran lying dead.
