Man tries to end life after killing wife

A 35-year-old man today allegedly attempted to commit suicide after killing his wife in Malhupura here, police said.

Naushad Ali allegedly killed his wife, Sitara (30), by slitting her throat with a knife, they said, adding after that he tried to end his life by consuming some poisonous substance.

It is suspected that the couple had a quarrel over some family dispute, the police said.

Ali is admitted in a local hospital here and his condition is stated to be serious, SHO of the Civil Lines police station, G S Sharma said.

"Sitara's body has been sent for post-mortem," the SHO said, adding a probe is on in the matter.
