Man, two sons among 8 sentenced to life for murder

Eight persons, including a man and his two sons, were today sentenced to life imprisonment by a local court here in a six-year-old murder case.

Special Judge Sanjay Kumar Dey held Hari Singh and his sons Brijbhan and Ratibhan guilty, along with their relatives Kishan Pal, Ram Singh, Jagpal, Surahjbhan and Chandra Bhan, of killing Naresh in March 2007 and also imposed a fine of Rs 15,000 on each.

According to the prosecution, Naresh was shot dead by the eight convicts and two other accused, Raj Bahadur and Amar Pal, over a personal rivalry.

While Raj Bahadur is currently lodged in a jail in Shahjahanpur and is being tried separately, Amar Pal is absconding.
