Man wanted for constable's murder held in Chandauli

A man wanted for the murder of a police constable and who officials claimed was absconding for the last 14 years has finally been arrested, police said today.

SP Muniraj said that Ramdular, allegedly a shooter, was yesterday arrested by Chandauli police and a .32 bore countrymade firearm recovered from his possession.

According to police, Ramdular was wanted for the murder of constable Santosh Singh and one Ram Singh, the latter being a witness in a case involving a killing in Mau district in 2000.

Station House Officer Chandauli Aniruddh Singh said that four criminal cases are registered against Ramdular in Mau district. The accused is reportedly affiliated to Uttar Pradesh politician Mukhtar Ansari, he added.
