Mandal engineering officer held under corruption charges

A mandal engineering officer wasarrestedby the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB)near Vizianagaram collectorate today while allegedly accepting the bribe amount from a contractor to clear his bills.

The officer had allegedly demanded Rs 20,000 from a contractor to clear bills worth Rs 1.50 lakhs relating to Panchayat works, said ACB official Ch Lakshmi Pathi.

He was trapped while accepting the said amount from from the Purohitunivalasa village contractor, said the official.
